Brazilian vs Peruvian vs Malaysian

All three of these types of virgin hair have both similarities and differences. After reading my blog hopefully you'll have a better understanding on which type will work the best for you!

Similarities

All 100% virgin hair should move natural just as your own hair.  There’s a quick test you can perform before purchasing your hair.

1. Take a few strands of hair and pay attention to the way it falls.

- If the hair falls almost "feather-like", this is an indication that once the hair is installed it will fall very nicely after styling and easily go back into place if blown out of shape by wind or altered by another outside element.

- If the hair appears "stiff" and the strands easily stray from one another this is an indication that the hair may soon have issues with tangling and shedding.  This is important because Virgin hair should have minimal shedding and tangling.

If the hair looks unhealthy in some way, this could be a red flag that it’s not 100% Virgin human hair.
With proper maintenance, you should also be able to use Virgin hair for more than one installation. Depending on the grade and quality of your hair, it could last anywhere from six months to a couple of years. I have bundles that are over five years old that look like I just purchased them.

The processing patterns for virgin hair types Brazilian, Peruvian, and Malaysian are wavy, straight, or curly. They usually come in natural colors such as #1b (also known as natural black), #2, and #4.

Differences

The hair's reaction to heat and water makes the differences between different types of Virgin hair is more apparent. After your first cowash and a couple weeks of wear, these differences will become more apparent.

Brazilian Hair – Brazilian hair is usually chosen because of its versatility and beauty. It's one of the most popular types of hair extensions on the market. This hair has tons of body and a natural sheen. It is available in wavy, straight or curly textures. This hair straightens nicely, but it may revert back to a slight wave pattern after a period of time  or if it is exposed to humid environments.
Brazilian hair should be soft and tangle free even after bleaching to achieve a lighter color. The wave or curl pattern it had at the time of purchase will however drop after using a bleaching agent.
If you are looking for a type of hair that works well for most hairstyles and blends well with Ethnic hair textures, I think that Brazilian hair may be your best option.

Peruvian Hair – If you're looking for one of the softest and lightweight types of hair on the market, then you've found it in Peruvian hair.  It looks naturally voluminous and lightweight even if you have 4 or 5 bundles of hair installed.  Peruvian hair is extremely manageable even in times when the hair isn’t maintained properly.  Curls may not hold as long as other types of extensions because of the soft texture.  Overall, Peruvian extensions are great for styles with simple and soft curls. If you are looking to achieve a soft and natural look, Peruvian hair may be your best option.

Malaysian Hair – Malaysian hair holds the spot for being the most bold and voluminous types of hair extensions on the market. It can appear excessively shiny at first, but after a couple of weeks of wear and cowashing, the shine lessens considerably and then it will take on more of a natural sheen. Malaysian hair has the heaviest density out of the three types of hair. A great benefit of having a heavier density is that curls will tend to hold longer with Malaysian hair and last throughout most of the day. This hair should give you a great bounce and heavy body. Sometimes, because of the heavier density, the straight texture is usually bone straight, which means it may not blend as well with ethic hair textures as the other two. It can have a tendency to be dry, especially the curly textures, if proper care isn’t taken. It is recommended that you give this hair type sufficient moisture in the form of good leave-in conditioner and/Or hydrating drops. So, if you're looking to achieve a look with lots of volume and thickness, Malaysian hair may be your best option.
